The funny story behind this bag is that I came up with the idea in a dream, which sounds embarrassingly cliche. My dear friend Willo O'Brien had been asking me for a new bag for A YEAR ever since the one I made her back in 2004 had started to tear a bit at the handle. It tore and tore and she kept using it and I kept promising to make her a new one but it just never happened.
I woke up in the middle of the night a couple weeks ago and had this little image in my head of a tree with birds and a few leaves, but I couldn't figure out how to make the brown felt stand out from the brown corduroy. So I embossed it, and it looks surprisingly like actual bark, and I had the bag stitched and finished in half and hour.
Thanks for being so patient, Willo! (And for the photo, too.)
